Jason is an ordained minister, and in April 2014, became our Senior Pastor. Jason delivers our weekly messages, leads an adult small group Bible study, and helps in other various ministries and activities. He continues to invest in children and youth ministries as God has called us to lead future generations. He is a leader of Inside Out Youth Group for teens as well as for our Bible Blitz children’s program. Jason has been part of mission work in Cincinnati, OH, and Nicaragua. He is an elder of the church and a Community Freedom Ministry Associate, which is a special wholeness ministry under the auspices of Freedom In Christ Ministries. He has previously worked in sales and as a substitute school teacher in the local schools. He enjoys playing volleyball, listening to Contemporary Christian music, and spending time with his family. Ron was retired, but in April 2014 he became our Associate Pastor. Ron is a licensed minister and he sings with the Praise Team, oversees hospitality, works with Inside Out Youth Group, and is an elder of the church. Ron also oversees our renovation project and has been part of mission work in Cincinnati, OH, and Nicaragua. He is known to be a good cook as well. He is married to his wife Betty, has a daughter Amy, a son Jason, and three grandchildren. Ron enjoys hunting, fishing, volleyball and shooting basketball with his grandson.
The balance of our Elder team consists of:
Kevin is an elder of the church, Sunday School Teacher for elementary age children, coordinator for the offering counters, computer tech for worship, as well as being in charge of the property committee. He works at Landis Office Center, Inc., in Cumberland. Kevin is married to Deanna, and has two daughters, Morgan and Madelynn. He has coached a lot of youth sports including basketball, football and soccer. His hobbies include spending time with his family, and watching sports of all kinds, including NASCAR.
Doug is one of our church elders and he “leads” the elder team. He serves as worship leader and gives morning prayer. He is also Pastor Jason’s dad. Doug has lived in Garrett County his entire life and is a retired school teacher, teaching at Southern High for 34 years, and is currently working as a Court Commissioner at the MD District Court. If you don’t see him at Sunday’s worship service, he’s more than likely working. Doug is married to Bonnie, has four children and eleven grandchildren. His hobbies include photography, Pirate baseball, and train watching. Doug and Bonnie also enjoy Southern Gospel music.
Harry is one of our church elders. He serves as an occasional greeter, offering counter, and worship leader and is a member of the lawn mowing team. He is also the current caretaker of the website. Harry moved to Garrett County in 1978 when he started his career with Flying Scot sailboats. His job frequently takes him on the road, so you will not see him every Sunday. Harry is married to Karen and they have two children, Carrie and Jimmy who are grown and living in Indianapolis and Pittsburgh respectively. He has been blessed to turn his lifelong passion, sailing, into a job and enjoys competing in sailing competitions all over the country. He is a Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan. He also enjoys long walks with Buffett, his golden retriever.
Ricky is a church elder, worship leader and assistant for Promiseland. He does maintenance for Greggs Pharmacy in Oakland. Ricky is married to Ruth and has three children, Savannah, Bradly and Sarah. Ricky loves being a dad and spending time with his family. He also enjoys motocross, weightlifting and watching movies.
Jason is a church elder, offering counter and takes an active part in international mission trips. He is employed as a fabricator for Flying Scot in Deer Park, He has one daughter, Silvia. Jason coaches his daughter soccer team. He enjoys shooting, music, Pens hockey and most importantly, Jesus.
Paul is involved with various ministries. He leads a couples’ small group Bible study, he’s a regular offering counter and greeter, helps with Vacation Bible School, and he has been an important part of the renovation projects of our building. Paul is married to Brenda and they have two daughters, Paulette Hose and Deanna Artice, and six grandkids. Paul is retired from Maryland State Highway Administration with 42 years of service. He is also retired from the military: 31 years with the U.S. Air Force and 9 years with the U.S. Navy. Paul is a three time Veteran. He enjoys camping, golfing, fishing and working with computers. Paul also enjoys sci-fi movies!
